Backup and recovery
Reveal your recovery phrase, what it controls, and the one rule that keeps your funds yours.
Alkanex is custodial by default: the bot holds your encrypted recovery phrase and signs your trades, which is what makes trading one-tap. But the phrase is always yours to take. You can reveal it any time and move your funds into any Bitcoin wallet you want. This page is how, and the rules that keep it safe.
Reveal your recovery phrase
Open the wallet card and tap View seed. The bot shows a confirmation screen first, then reveals the words once you confirm.
The wallet card warns you up front, before you ever fund it:
Important: backup your recovery phrase NOW. Anyone with the phrase controls this wallet.
The reveal flow has three steps:
| Step | What you tap | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | View seed | Opens the "Reveal Recovery Phrase" warning screen |
| 2 | Show seed | Decrypts your phrase on demand and posts it in a new message |
| 3 | I saved it | You confirm you have written it down |

The 60-second auto-delete
The revealed phrase is posted as its own message and the bot deletes it automatically after 60 seconds. The footer on that message reads:
Auto-deletes in 60s
This keeps your phrase from sitting forever in your Telegram chat history. Write it down somewhere offline within that window. If you need to see it again, just tap View seed again, the bot re-reveals it (and starts a fresh 60-second timer).
Read it carefully, the warning is the rule
The reveal screen shows exactly this:
Anyone with this phrase controls your wallet. Never share. Never type on websites. This message auto-deletes in 60s.
Three things to take from it:
- Anyone with this phrase controls your wallet. The words ARE the wallet. Whoever holds them can spend everything in it, on any device, without the bot.
- Never share it. Not with support, not with a "moderator", not with anyone who DMs you. Alkanex will never ask you for your phrase. Anyone who does is trying to drain you.
- Never type it on websites. No legitimate site needs your recovery phrase. "Connect your wallet" / "validate your seed" / "claim airdrop" pages that ask for 12 or 24 words are scams. Type your phrase nowhere but the wallet app you are deliberately restoring into.
The legacy SegWit address (read-only)
When you reveal the phrase, the bot also shows a second address line labelled:
Legacy SegWit address (read-only)
with the note:
Same seed, BIP84 path. For wallets that only show SegWit.
Your Alkanex wallet is a Taproot wallet (its address starts with bc1p). Some older Bitcoin wallets only support the legacy SegWit format (addresses starting with bc1q, derived on the BIP84 path). This line gives you that SegWit address, derived from the same recovery phrase, so a SegWit-only wallet can still recognise your funds when you restore the phrase there.
A few things to know:
- It is read-only and informational. It is shown alongside the phrase only as a reference, and it inherits the same 60-second auto-delete.
- It is the same seed, just a different derivation path. You do not need it to back up. The recovery phrase alone is the full backup.
- Alkanex itself trades from the Taproot (
bc1p) address. Deposit and trade there. The SegWit line exists purely for compatibility when you restore elsewhere.
If reveal is paused
Once in a while the bot may pause seed reveals while it secures the system. If so, tapping Show seed returns:
Seed reveal is temporarily paused while we secure the system. Your funds are safe. Please try again shortly.
This is a safety brake, not a loss. Your funds are safe and your phrase is unchanged. Try again shortly.
What a backup gives you
Your recovery phrase is the full, portable backup of your wallet. With it, you can restore your wallet and spend your funds in any standard Bitcoin wallet that supports the same derivation, independently of Alkanex and independently of Telegram. That is what "you can take control of your funds whenever you want" means in practice.
It is also the one thing the operator cannot reproduce for you. The phrase is encrypted and revealed only to you, on demand. Back it up, store it offline, and never let it touch a website or another person.
